How it works
Paste or type your numbers separated by commas, spaces or new lines. Every common summary statistic is worked out as you type, so you can sanity-check a set of grades, prices or measurements in seconds.
Example: For 12, 7, 19, 7 and 24 the mean is 13.8, the median is 12 and the mode is 7.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between mean and median?
The mean adds everything up and divides by the count, so one very large value drags it upwards. The median is the middle value, which is why it is preferred for things like house prices and salaries.
Why does the mode sometimes say “no repeats”?
A set only has a mode when at least one value appears more than once. If every number is unique, there is no mode to report.
Is the standard deviation for a sample or a population?
It uses the sample formula, dividing by n − 1. That is the right choice when your numbers are a sample of something larger, which is the usual case.
