How it works
Work backwards from the thing you want. Enter the target and the date, and the calculator returns the monthly deposit that gets you there.
Monthly = (Target − Start × (1 + r)^n) ÷ (((1 + r)^n − 1) ÷ r)
Example: To reach 300,000 in 4 years from 50,000 at 3%, save about 4,900 a month.
Questions people ask
What rate should I assume for a short goal?
For anything under three years, use a savings-account rate. Money you might need soon does not belong in the stock market.
What if the monthly figure is impossible?
Push the deadline out or lower the target — the calculator makes that trade-off visible in a couple of seconds.
Is 0% a valid rate?
Yes, and it is the safest planning assumption. The result becomes a plain division of the remaining amount.
