Check your payslip in ten seconds. Enter your hourly rate, the hours worked and the overtime multiplier your contract uses.
Total = Rate × Regular hours + Rate × Multiplier × Overtime hours
Example: At 220 an hour, 40 regular hours plus 6 overtime hours at 1.5× is 10,780.
Questions people ask
What does time and a half mean?
Your normal hourly rate multiplied by 1.5 for each overtime hour. Double time is 2×, usually for holidays or nights.
When does overtime start?
Typically after 40 hours in a week, but it depends on your contract and local law — set the regular hours to match yours.
Is overtime taxed differently?
Generally no. It can push a paycheque into a higher withholding band, which is why the take-home sometimes looks smaller than expected.
