Example: A 50-litre fuel tank holds 13.2 US gallons or 11.0 UK gallons.
Questions people ask
Is a US cup the same as a metric cup?
No. A US cup is 236.6 ml while a metric cup is 250 ml. This converter uses the US cup, which is what most online recipes mean.
Why are UK and US gallons different?
The UK gallon is based on the volume of ten pounds of water — 4.546 litres — while the US kept an older wine gallon of 3.785 litres.
How do I convert volume to weight?
You need the density. Use the cooking converter for common ingredients; a litre of water is 1 kg, but a litre of flour is only about 530 g.
